"The new S60 is one of the most impressive cars ever created by Volvo," says Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. "It is a true driver's car that will further strengthen our positions in the US and China and ensure even greater growth for Volvo Cars."
The new Volvo S60 is the manufacturer's first car that will no longer be offered with a diesel engine, emphasizing the company's commitment to replacing traditional internal combustion engines with advanced electric drivetrains. In 2017, Volvo Cars became the first global car manufacturer to announce that all new cars would feature electric drivetrains from 2019 onwards.
The new Volvo S60 is available with two gasoline turbocharged engines along with a plug-in hybrid system: the "T6 Twin Engine AWD" plug-in hybrid, which achieves 340 hp, and the award-winning 400 hp (U.S. figures) "T8 Twin Engine AWD" plug-in hybrid. Petrol models with T5 and T6 engines are also available.
"The active suspension and selectable driving modes provide excellent vehicle control and impressive driving characteristics, making this a car for drivers seeking authentic and true driving experiences," says Henrik Green, Vice President of Research and Development at Volvo Cars. "In the new S60, we have used proven technologies from the 90 and 60 series cars, so we can confidently say that we have created one of the best sports sedans on the market."
